The OCHS Goes Across the Street
During the last few weeks, the Oxford Centre for Hindu Studies folks have been packing up all there is to pack at 13–15 Magdalen Street, bringing it all—box by box and chair by chair and picture by mūrti and pot by dishdown to street-level, across the street and over to No. 1 St. Giles. There, the staff and scholars are rediscovering what it is like to breathe, for, unlike the previous digs (held for some 26 years), this new (actually 200-years-old) facility has twice as much space (but, alas, with a smaller kitchen). This will be the Centre’s home for the next maybe-more-than-three years, or until the permanent (what is permanent in this world?) location further up the road (very near the University’s new Stephen A. Schwarzman Centre for the Humanities) comes into being. If you want to keep updated about OCHS goings-on, you can subscribe to their newsletter: https://ochs.org.uk/subscribe/
